Occupational testing

Traditionally, occupational psychologists are associated with two kinds of tests:

  • test of ability (e.g. verbal reasoning, general intelligence, management skills)
  • personality tests (e.g. extraversion, conformity)

The uses of such tests can include some of the following:

  • candidate selection
  • training & development
  • organisational development

In order to conduct such tests, it is important that the individual doing so has undergone appropriate training in test administration.
